Age: Seven.
Gender: Female
Rank: Healer
Pack: Waru
Appearance:
Vicki is an arctic wolf, about three feet from nose to tail. Her coat is a pure white color and her eyes are an icy blue. She has the clover tattoo right on her front left paw. Her eyes seem to light up every time she talks, and her true emotions sometimes show in them, but only for one that looks close enough. Her black nose and lips makes her smile stand out that much more with her pearly white fangs and pink tongue. Her tail is long and bushy, curling at the tip. She looks very majestic, but there are slight scars on her if you look close enough, the results of healing other wolves. Most have faded away, although there is one scar on her neck by her throat that looks like a tooth mark, refusing to fade, and it is the most noticeable one on her. Her claws are very small and manicured, almost like a human's fingers, and she shows this off sometimes, as she did all the biting and filing away by herself. Even when ravenously devouring creatures, there is a certain beauty and grace about her, though she has never been much to acknowledge it. Her pointy ears seem to twitch a lot, her paws and nose are small and dainty-looking. Her eyes are wide and there is a certain blackness around them that makes it look like she's wearing mascara.
She feels downy soft, and smells of nature: mostly dirt, grass, and flowers. She moves with grace, and appears confident in all she does, even when she isn't. Her voice is deep and warm-sounding, however, when she growls, it sounds like thunder, warning of a storm coming.
Personality:
Vicki is very much a wolf-pleaser. She is eccentric, but does not like to do anything that will upset anyone else, so she tends to bury her feelings under false smiles and happiness. She will put her all into healing others, no matter how much if a toll it is on her. She likes to joke a lot, but she is very honest, and can be serious when she has to be. She knows when and when not to talk, and actually makes for a decent strategist. Some have speculated that someday, she would become Alphess, but she didn't want that kind of responsibility. She takes much more joy from healing others than anyone else, and she will only heal herself very sparingly. She will do anything for her packmates and friends, no matter what the cost. She is so kind, it's her biggest downfall. If she sees someone who is injured, she won't hesitate to heal them, no matter what pack they're from, nor breed. She also has often been accused of being naive and gullible, trusting too much, but to her, that is just an act. The more someone thinks you're trusting them, the more likely they will reveal their true intentions, in her mind. If something troubles her, not only will she hide it, but she will not speak of it at all until the issue is resolved. She would gladly die if it meant another wolf could live. As much of a sweetheart she is, she will be swayed by popular opinion, and if she hears one negative thing about herself, it completely destroys her, especially if the negative thing is a popular opinion of her. Even though swayed much by popular opinion, there are a few things she will stand her ground on until the day she dies. She prays a lot for other wolves, but never for herself.
History:
It was speculated that Vicki would be an Alphess when she was older, but she knew she would not be able to handle such a responsibility, so, when she was offered a position as beta, she refused, and instead requested to be a healer. Since then, she has used her magic to heal wolves and pups in need.
There was one particular wolf she had to heal that was near-death, bleeding from the throat. They were going to die in a matter of seconds. This was the first time she ever healed a major wound, which made her that much more nervous. If she failed, that wolf would have died. Fortunately for that wolf, she did not fail, but she did wind up regretting it, as she didn't realize this wolf was not exactly pure of heart. He wound up attacking her later, and she had to kill him to survive. The scar stays fresh on her neck, the scar she obtained by healing him, as a constant reminder for what she has done.
Still, despite that, she will heal any wolf she sees. She believes in inherent goodness, no matter the magic or species of others, and this is why she has other scars, although those have faded to the point that they can barely be seen. She has always been popular among the pack, but only because she is constantly bending over backwards to make it so. Every time she ever expressed herself in the past, she regretted it. One time she showed she was angry and fought another wolf, but lost once her anger dissipated. Once she expressed sadness, and was told to just stop being a wimp and suck it up. As such, she has felt allowing herself to express genuine emotions would wind up leading her into being stupid and irrational, or she'd be told not to do it, so why bother even feeling anything except happiness? Sometimes, she just wishes someone would like her for her, not for healing them, not for her false persona she has adopted to make herself be more likable, but for her real self. Of course, seeing as how she has long since stopped showing her real self, she now feels such a dream is impossible and that a logical wolf should give up on it.
In her desperation to impress others and make them like her, she has been roped into doing all matters of things, from helping mothers birth pups to trashing a fellow packmate's den. She would never do anything really bad, of course, but she has gotten into mischief before.
Elements: Life and Light.
Spells:
Cure - She can cure any injury to any other creature, and she will do it for any of them that she isn't planning on eating. However, her method of curing is quite unusual. In order to cure, she draws life from her own self, transferring the wound completely onto her, then she draws from the life around her to heal the wound up on herself. As such, she needs to eat much more than she looks like she does. Every time she does this, it leaves a scar. If the wound was fatal, she could not completely transfer it onto herself, but she could get a good chunk of it.
Esuna- She can cure any illness in the same manner she cures wounds: by using the life from her very being and giving the illness to herself. However, she does not draw life from other things around her to get rid of it once she has it in her. Rather, she toughs it out until it either passes or someone finds herbs that can heal her. Once she has drawn an illness from someone, she cannot use other magic for a while, depending on the nature of the sickness. For mild, she can't use other spells for up to a day, for moderate, she can't for up to three days, and for severe, she'd need well over a week, as a general rule of thumb.
Flourish - She can make the plants around her bloom sooner or make her pack-mates stronger and more energetic. However, this takes life from either her or something else around her to accomplish, and leaves her feeling drained until the spell wears off. She must concentrate on this for it to work, and once it is broken and the spell stops, she cannot cast it again until after she eats something.
Transfer - She can give her energy to any other wolf or species of animal. However, she can only do such if they are willing to receive her energy. This makes her feel tired, for even if she only gives them a little of her energy, it feels like a lot. She can only do this if she has a lot of energy in her, or else she's likely to faint.
Emoticon - She can control another wolf's feelings. She cannot control the feelings of any other creature, nor can she do this for very long, as this does draw energy and life from her, plus it requires complete concentration from her end. She must also be feeling the particular emotion she wants the other wolf to feel, therefore, she must channel thoughts to herself that evoke them. This only works for maybe a minute, if that. It works best on those with weak minds, but those with strong ones, she can only make them feel the emotion for a few seconds. On a puppy, she can control the emotion for a considerable amount of time, but she usually would refuse to do it, because it weakens her so and, she suspects, damages her own mind just a tiny bit.
She also has the ability to read auras, which doesn't count as a spell, but an ability. She can tell by someone's aura what element or elements they possess, as long as she sees them. Each element has a different colored aura, and by seeing this, she can tell which element or elements they have, and how strong they are in them. She can somewhat tell emotions as well, based on the auras, but she has not trained anywhere near long or hard enough to tell them easily, and must concentrate if she wants to distinguish them. And if the wolf or other creature is trying to hide their emotions, she probably won't be able to tell them.
Shield: She draws the life around her to make a force-field. She could do the same by bending the light around her, but she is more used to using life to do it. The light version of this spell can only be used during the day. The life version can be used any time, but it's very taxing and doesn't last very long.
Roleplay sample:
Vicki darted through the tunnels that constituted her home. She had to get back quickly. She was running out of time. Blood soaked her fur and she felt dizzy. This is what she got from healing. It didn't bother her, except now she couldn't find energy anywhere that she could use to heal herself. Why was she so stupid? Healing a wolf not only cut up, but drowning in the cave of screams? Stupid! But she had to do it. She wouldn't be able to live with herself otherwise.
Her lungs were full of liquid, and her lungs felt like they were on fire with each breath she took. She gurgled and fell. If the woods weren't so far away from here, I'd have gone there, but...I can't even... She tried to get up, but she found she couldn't do it. Where was a healer when she needed one? Everything seemed to be getting dimmer. It reminded her of when she healed him, the wolf whose name she never learned. Only that was in the forest, and she was able to draw energy from around her. This time, she was completely alone, staring death in the face. She didn't smile and pretend everything was fine like she normally did. No. Now that she was alone, she could be herself.
She whimpered, beating her tail against the floor. If only someone could hear her. If only someone could get to her before it was too late. She had a sinking feeling it already was, though, and the area around her went black as her wide, blue eyes finally closed in a sleep she wondered if she'd ever wake up from.
