Bilious Pine could not stand this. That late at night, he should have been sleeping, but no, the pain kept him up yet again. He was itching uncontrollably, but if he scratched, he'd only wind up hurting himself more. This was the price he paid, and he fully accepted it before, but now, he just wanted it to end. He stared off the ridge, considering, not for the first time, jumping off and dying. But no, no. He couldn't do that. If he died, he'd have to face his wife and pups, after all. And, as things were, he was probably to go to a place of eternal suffering, anyway. Might as well get warmed up for that now.
He muttered to himself and paced the Ridge, thinking movement would help him. Naturally, it didn't, but it only hurt an excruciating amount to try. He was in mid-pace, then suddenly froze. He smelled and heard something approaching, and automatically whipped around in the general direction of the source of it, planting his feet down and letting out his croak of a growl.
"I know you're there. Make yourself known," he said, sounding as threatening as he could muster with his hoarse, weak wheeze of a voice.

Shadow stepped forward from the darkness, smiling gentle. She wasn't her scary self, her true self. She was her alter-ego, Shadow the caring and wise Kuki Beta. Her usual little band wasn't even with her tonigh, but hidden away in the cave they all shared. She just couldn't sleep, hearing the padding of Omega feet out here, so she decided to come out for entertainment. She was awake, she might as well work. "Be at peace, Bilious. It is simply I," She said in her usual honey voice, sitting by him on the rock, truely too tired to even act like herself. He had caught her at that rare moment when the insane Shadow and the wise leader Shadow met, mixing in strange ways. The way she used to be, really. She had never been truely sane.

Bilious smiled, seeing Shadow approach him. He always did like her, considering her almost as one of his own pups, and he always felt a connection with her. He suspected she was of the same element as him, but he never voiced his suspicions. Even if he did, who would believe him? He has been known to hallucinate.
"Ah. What would a beautiful young fae such as yourself be doing up at this hour?" he asked. "You should be sleeping. Betas need their rest." He was twitching a lot in an attempt to stop himself from scratching his remaining fur out. No way would he let himself lose all of his coat. "And is there a reason you are addressing a lowly Omega such as myself?" He was not being disrespectful when asking that. No one in the pack acknowledged him unless they wanted his advice. There were rare exceptions to that rule. Otherwise, no one was to ever address him or be nice to him. After all, he was liable to go crazy and kill anyone who was, wasn't he? He laughed a bitter laugh at himself, then bowed respectfully to Shadow. "Is there anything I may do to help you?"

Shadow sat, looking with affection at the elder omega. In truth, when she wasl alphess of her own pack, she would have horribly punished an omega for keeping her up at night, but she must keep up her facade. She smiled sweetly as Bilious bowed to her, enjoying her rank over ther pack. The only thing missing was for that old hag Velvet to bow to her, and her little witch of a pup, too. They deserved not to be in rank over her, Shadow the great alphess, now without the rank. "Oh, you don't have to bow to me, Bilious. Pack is pack, whether they be Omega or Alpha," She said wisely. She didn't really believe it herself, but her honeyed tongue could say the sky was green and one could believe it.
She looked to the sky, noticing the full moon, but it's silvren beauty was lost on her blackened heart. "As for why I'm awake as such a late hour... I couldn't sleep. Zmey and Akatsuki are horid bedmates," She giggled. Really, she accoually enjoyed their company, the last trace of humanity left in the insane fae. However, she didn't want the Omega thinking it was he who awoke her, as was the truth.
She noticed out of the corner of her eye that he was fighting the urge to itch, and she presed her nose to his cheek in a concerned manner. "Are you uncomfortable? I know we don't have a healer, but we could perhaps find something to help, if it pains you," She said, referring to his skin. Everything about her, from the concerned glint in her eyes to the worried tone in her voice said that she was concerned about his health and welfare. In reality, she just couldn't see him any uglier, but Minlo help her, she'd gourge her eyes out.

Bilious listened to Shadow as she talked, narrowing his eyes suspiciously. Then, he laughed a laugh which quickly turned into a cough. "M'dear, you don't have to lie to me," he rasped. "I know you like it when others bow to you." He chuckled. "Why, back in the day, so did I. Power can be so intoxicating." He took in a sharp breath as he felt pain shoot from his lungs. Another thing that happened often, yet he couldn't not react to it. "But remember, power is something that can be taken away as easily as it is given." His blood-shot eyes conveyed a certain deep sorrow. "In the end, the one thing that you will always have power over is yourself. And, if the gods decide otherwise, you don't even have that." He laughed bitterly. "You also don't have to lie about your companions keeping you up for my sake." It was true that Shadow was very convincing. Sometimes, Bilious wondered if only he could see through her. However, if he had to put his word up against hers, he knew who everyone would believe. He was, after all, senile. "I'm sorry I woke you. It gets harder and harder for me to sleep, let alone stay quiet." He twitched, feeling that itch again.
"Ah, you know I'm more than just uncomfortable," he answered, his face contorting to something between a smile and a grimace. "You know as well as I do that there is nothing that will soothe my pain. I've tried everything, even that one healer from Waru pack." He coughed again. At least the burning pain in his throat was distract him from the itching. "Sicknesses that the gods give you directly cannot be cured. The only way for me to feel any relief...is if someone killed me, at this point." He laughed bitterly once more. "And I'm too precious a commodity to be murdered right now."
