To become a staff member, you need not only be an active member and have qualities fit for the job, but be willing to take on all responsibilities that come with the position you're seeking. Read over the rules, job descriptions, and maybe even contact a member with the position you're seeking to get an insider's look at what it means to be a staff member! When you're certain that you've found the job you would like to take on, fill out the application, create a new thread, and await an administrator's decision!
positions in gray are unavailable for application.
GENERAL RULES. *Maintain high activity; log-in at least once every other day. You do not have to have a high post out-put, you just need to be someone who is on often enough to be on top of their duties. *Be known and friendly; no one who has just joined should be posting up an application right off the bat. Get to know us, lay down a basic level of trust, be certain that this is a site you want to stick with and work for. *This is a job; you're being given responsibilities and you're getting paid in mutual respect and self-satisfaction. Sure, you're not signing a contract, you can leave your position with or without warning, but you are agreeing, human to human, that you can be trusted to carry out certain duties. We hope this is something you can respect and uphold. *That being said, if you do choose to give up your staff position, there will be no hard feelings. Simply let one of the administrators know, and give us a reason if you're comfortable to. We all know that life can get hectic, that responsibilities can add up. None of us expect an online forum to be your number one priority in life. *Do not lie about qualifications. This will be found out in your competency as you carry out your duties, making the transgression pointless. If you aren't capable of completing all aspects of the job, then don't apply for it. Don't set yourself up to fail, and don't make promises you can't keep. *Be able to handle authority. You must know how to talk to people, be friendly, yet also stand your ground and enforce the rules that are in your jurisdiction. Maintain a level of respect with all members and guests; no mouthing-off, no making unnecessary threats nor using a higher authority as intimidation ("Well one word from me and Riv will ban you into the tenth circle!"), etc. Use common sense and remember that just because it's the internet doesn't mean walking all over other people is acceptable on any level. If you can't handle the situation on your own, reach out to other staffers (preferably Riv or Katie); you're not a lone ranger.
